PROOF (PROtected Online Filing) Scheme
Companies House have launched a new password-protected online filing system for the following forms:
288a, 288b, 288c and 287 and 363s (annual return shuttle)
This added security has been offered in the light of the recent '287 scam'where fraudsters have manually submitted a 287 to request a change of address, thereby being able to order goods on credit or even setting up a new bank account against their newly registered PO box or anonymous short term address.
Once you have signed up to PROOF, Companies House will only accept requests to change address or officer details electronically. The system works by using confidential authentication codes and recognised email addresses.
